这个mod是为了在游戏的早期阶段增加一种新型船只而开发的。巡逻舰，或者游戏中称为巡逻船，是一种便宜且成本效益高的炮舰，旨在进行大规模生产和快速部署。这些船只主要设计用于反海盗，作为需要时的第一道防线，但也可以组成战斗群体用于更大规模的作战。它们配备1个武器插槽、1个点防御和2个实用插槽，还有1个辅助插槽，需要1个船只插槽。它们比护卫舰具有更高的速度和机动性，但防护能力较差。
这个mod的开发目标是小巧简单，能够与其他类似的mod并存，无需干扰或补丁。
